This is probably one of the most visually stimulating places I have been in a while. Who ever designed this place... WELL DONE my friend! This little place, which is actually not that little is tucked back in a strip mall off Main St. SO not a place I would ever in a million years think that I would find in EG! I went with my mom, and sat on the Hibachi side. We started with the duck app, which was tasty. I got the filet with sea scallops and my mom got the shrimp (both hibachi style). Both were amazing, and way too much to eat.Our server, though I didnt get her name was very good as was our chef. They have a full Sushi menu, and a line of Sushi chefs ready to grant your every last wish. Im giving them 5 stars, purely on the fact that who ever owns this place was brave enough to open a place like this in sleepy little EG. Good on ya!

Great new addition to EG - have had the sushi, hibachi, and standard Asian dishes, and all were terrific...and the prices here are not high by any means - in fact, they're pretty reasonable given the amount of food you get...

A few months back I accompanied a friend and her Mom to Kon for dinner. As I stepped out the door, I realized I had left my cell phone on the table and ran back in. Within a 2 minute window of walking out the door, turning around and walking back in, the dark corner table I was sitting in was cleared and re-set for the next party. Amazingly, the waiter and busboy had no idea where my phone went. In fact, the waiter did not even have the decency to help me look for it, considering he just assisted in the clean up. My iphone was 'cleared' off the table with the rest of the dishes. The manager was no help. I filed a police report and when the surveillance tapes were checked the next day, the booth I was sitting at conveniently was not covered by the camera. It is too bad the manager who insisted the booth was surveilled, couldn't fill me in on that piece of vital information the night I was in. No phone call from management and no help with finding my phone. SUPER shady service!

Kon is the best sushi around, in my opinion. It is always fresh and delicious. They have wonderful special rolls and their Hibachi is so much fun to go to for a fun night out. They also have great drinks! Their newly remodeled building is even better than before with more space and a really cool bar that fits a lot of people. The owner is SO nice and always goes out of his way to greet you. Definitely try Kon if you are looking for a fun atmosphere or a great take out meal. YUM!

I ate at Kon Asian Bistro on 03/13/2010. It is a nice place and overall the the experience was okay, but there was a specific indecent which I need to address... First let me say that the sushi was some of the best quality fish I have had in Rhode Island. I love sashimi, and the Sashimi Deluxe at Kon was a fairly decent in terms freshness and portion size. I have eaten at basically all of the place sushi restaurants in RI and this was better than most of them including Sakura, Tokyo, Haruki East, Ichiban, and more. Unfortunately some of the other main dishes were fairly small considering their $20 price which was a disappointment. My mother had the red snapper dish and it tasted good but it definitely was not a good value because it was basically a few bites. I am not sure how restaurants do this nowadays and can get away with it but it seems the nicer a restaurant decorates their place, they less food they can serve you while maintaining a high price. Unfortunately the meal went down hill once we received our appetizers. The Truffle Escolar (White Tua) was bland and the Beef Tataki came out and had a big piece of HAIR in it. We told the waitress about the hair and then we said would pass on getting a replacement appetizer and instead eat our main course. Immediately the manager of the place came over and apologized. He offered to give us another appetizer. We assumed it would be complimentary so we accepted and decided to try what he suggested. Much to our dismay when we received the bill he charged us for the appetizer. We immediately told the waitress and she said she would talk to the manager. He came over and said he had taken off the first appetizer and then charged us for the second one he had offered to us after we said we didn't want another??? I don't know what this guy was thinking, but this is no way to treat a customer when they find a piece of hair in their food. This is especially the case if the restaurant plans to stay in business. We are reasonable people and understand that accidents happen, but this was very unprofessional and this restaurant really needs to take a look at their management and re-evaluate. Let me mention that our waitress was very professional and gave us great service. She actually took the bill and went behind the managers back, and took the appetizer off our bill. This restaurant should commend this woman, and should discipline the manager of this establishment.

Who woulda thought?? I'm not sure if you're familiar with East Greenwich, RI but it's the quintessential Rhode Island seaside town. Small shops line the main street and theres a great little marina. The biggest store I saw was CVS and oh, look at that, an "Asian Bistro" next door to it. Everything seems normal on first approach. The front is unassuming and the door is generic but open that door and your instantly transported to a Vegas or a New York. Just look at some of the pictures! (Especially mine ;) The interior is total Gaysian! What about the food you say? These people know how to do fish without a doubt! I started with the soy glazed chilean sea bass. Absolutely amazing! Couldn't have been prepared more perfectly. I followed this with a couple rolls, one of which was the yellow tail jalapeno roll, loved it! Love. I actually developed feelings for that roll... My only complaint, and why I didn't give 5 stars, is the smell. There is a ridiculous amount of water flowing over walls and throughout the restaurant's many water features giving it a "wet" smell. It looks gorgeous but unless they want a chlorine smell their gonna have to settle for a wet smell. This can be very off puting for a sushi place but I can assure you that smell is most definitely from the water features and not the fish. The fish they serve is about as fresh as it gets. You go now!

Great atmosphere, quality sushi. Unexpected beautiful interior considering where it was located in a CVS plaza. But, the two kids birthday parties going on in the hibachi room were a bit of a distraction. If you don't want to feel like you're at a Chuck E. Cheese while enjoying your sushi, aim to get here no sooner than 7:30-8 when it becomes a mature crowd. But, kudos to the parents for getting their children to eat quality, healthful food - and the kids were all having a good time!

Sushi is fantastic. location is bizzar. Decor is over the top. Well worth it. all five of these stars are awarded for the sushi. the service is adequate. it's in an odd location, and the decor is OTT. But the food is really fab! i have nothing else to see, eat here!

Consistently great food. We've eaten in and had take out and it's always fantastic. Service in the restaurant is always fantastic and friendly. Just a super place! (ps: we love any of the hibachi specials, but also try the shrimp appetizer- just fabulous!).

Finally came for hibachi! I am typcially impartial to Hibachi just because.. well... you get some shrimp, rice, veggies, and a piece of steak or whatever you want. Nothing special, however the company and the hibachi chef can make it one hell of a night, and thats exactly what we all had. Went with a party of 5, and then other couple was sitting with us that were in on the fun as well. Very lively, and honestly I can't wait to do it again. The hibachi chef was great, had some neat tricks up his sleeve, and mastered that flat top. I think he hit us all with sake like, 3x or something like that. It was a good time. Flipped food into our mouths, and was just a ball buster all around. Dinner and a comedy show. I give an A+. Oh, I forgot to mention the most important part of the night. Macallan 18 year, 2oz pour. $13. Here, let me repeat myself a couple times in case you missed that. Oh, I forgot to mention the most important part of the night. Macallan 18 year, 2oz pour. $13. With that being said, yes, thirteen dollars for the same drink that Amici charges $39 for. (I have yet to see it under $20, until Kon) So, definitely can't wait to come back for Hibachi, however i'm sure my next few times will be because of the main reason I fell in love with Kon, and that is strictly the sushi.

I've been here a lot and each time i eat in or order take out - it's great! The sushi is great - reasonable prices and well made rolls. I've also had a shrimp dish and the hibachi - which was also great. They've changed their seating recently (as they had two bar areas which made no sense) and now the set up is much better. The only slight issue i've had is when kids are around and their parents are allowing them to roam around the water in the middle of the restaurant. This place is always my go-to for good sushi!

Tucked away in a strip mall, you might suspect this restaurant to be less than stellar. Looks are deceiving, however, and this Asian Fusion restaurant is surprisingly good. The decor in a word is "Red". Only in an Asian restaurant would a place this gaudy be somehow acceptable. There is a Koi pond in the center of the restaurant with a artificial waterfall behind it. If you've ever been to Shrine at Foxwoods, then you know the atmosphere. Kon has a variety of food including sushi, hibachi and chinese food dishses. Generally, it is very risky ordering sushi at a place like this. With the growing popularity of sushi in the US, every type of eatery is offering up their versions. They usually suck at best and dangerous at their worst. The sushi at Kon is neither, in fact, it's very good. They offer an exceptional variety of fish and it tasted very fresh. They even have Toro, which is rare to find. I ordered several orders of sashimi (tuna, yellowtail and salmon) and a couple pieces of eel sushi. The sashimi portion was generous, expertly cut and fresh tasting. My only criticism is that it is served on top of shaved ice. This only takes away from the quality of the fish, which should be served at room temperature. The eel sushi really shined. I could smell it being cooked after I ordered it and was suprised to see that it was not drenched in the tradional sauce, but instead a single bead of it was placed on top of the eel. All of this to go with a big Sapporo beer is a perfect lunch or dinner.

LOVED this place! Went here for the first time a few months back. We were seated next to the fountain and my only complaint is I feel the seating is too crouded. I would recommend this place to anyone all day if they are looking for a wide variety of fresh, flavorful sushi!

Walking into Kon you feel like you are somewhere else other than the CVS Plaza in East Greenwich...Vegas maybe? I go here mostly for lunch once a week with my husband...We sit at the bar and get the lunch specials which are seriously the best deal going. You can have sushi, miso, and salad for 2 for less than it costs to eat at Panera...I'm a bit of a sashimi snob, and the fish here is always fresh...I've been here a zillion times and the quality is consistent. The staff is friendly and helpful, particularly the bartenders and the manager. The hibachi tables are typical, and are good for bday parties and such...the drinks are strong and the cocktails are creative, including a big scorpion bowl for 2...

Beautiful and interesting place to eat. You can choose to eat out front at the sushi bar or in the back at the hibachi bar. We ate at the hibachi bar and the chefs were very entertaining. Food was fresh and delicious. If you go to the hibachi bar it is best to go with a group because of the entertainment value.

  • Amanda B.

The sushi is good and fresh, although Ive had better. The atmosphere is really nice. The hibachi sucked, the food wasn't cook well, and it just didn't taste good, no flavor... Oki has better hibachi and Ichiban had better sushi. But if atmosphere is very important this is the place for you.

We love sushi and have explored a number of places in the SE Mass/ RI area... Kon was pretty good! The atmosphere is a little surprising as the place is tucked away in a lil strip mall. Service was just okay... loooong time in between waitress sitings. Edamame was decent, fresh, not too salty. Pad-thai was medium... def had much better else where. One of our tablemates was shocked at the "wet dog" smell it seemed to give off. Sushi was the highlight of the meal. Philly role (my personal fav) - bomb, lollipop role - interesting but good, Godzilla Roll - yummy, Rainbow Roll - good... others said their rolls were yummy (spicy tuna, spicy salmon, eel & avacado)... I think we would go back if asked...

The decor is well-planned with everything from the Giant Buddah statue to the lamp shades. The sushi was cut well and the fish was fresh and the texture was good. The udon noodles was very meh, I wouldn't recommend those because the sauce wasn't that great. Miso soup was fine as well.

I like Kon, the food is good, the service is great. the ambience is cool, make you feel that there is hope for restaurants in New England. it would be perfect if they were more consistent with the food.

My wife and I have eaten here quite a few times. The food is excellent and they have the best sushi in the area hands down. We actually stumbled upon this gem purely by accident. We were thinking of trying Tio Mateo's which is a Mexican place next door but wanted more of a sit down restaurant. Both places are located in a completely forgettable strip mall that you would normally just drive past. We walked into Kon and it was like we were transported to a Manhattan restaurant. It was completely unexpected. The place is very well designed and nicely lit. Our favorite dishes are the crispy dried shredded beef and anything sushi. My only complaint would be that while the service is good and efficient, the staff are not overly friendly or welcoming. The sushi chefs will rarely make eye contact with you if you are seated at the sushi bar which makes it difficult to ask questions. A small attitude adjustment would make this an outstanding 5-star restaurant.

I have been to Kon on many occasions. The sushi is outstanding, as are their house drink selections (Dragon martini!). Within the past year, they renovated the interior and it is much more inviting then it used to be. Since it is located in a strip mall, the exterior can be deceiving but you forget all about that once you're inside. The service has always been fantastic.

My favorite Japanese steak house, great food, great atmosphere, great show. Used to go to shogun but the food is much better at Keon's

  • Trinity L.

I haven't tried the hibachi, but I can say from experience that the sushi is generally unimpressive. While the eel sashimi and the dynamite roll have both been delicious, everything else I've sampled has been a disappointment (the octopus I sashimi I had was just not fresh - there's no way it could have been and tasted as it did). Furthermore, the service can be ranked right up there next to that octopus they served me; it was pretty close to rotten. I don't expect to be entertained through my meal, but I do expect the staff to be both polite and appear engaged when talking to me. A smile can go a long way... And to close, they have the WROST red bean and green tea mochi I have ever been served. I considered asking for some ginger, just to get the taste of fail out of my mouth...

By far the best sushi restaurant in RI. The mood is great for a date or a night out with friends. The wait can be a bit long at times on a Friday or Saturday. I would suggest waiting till 8pm or late to go. Two of our favorite rolls are the Sweetheart Roll and the Dynamite Roll. Definitely worth trying! Although East Greenwhich is not close to us, it is well worth the drive for this GREAT sushi and night out!

I've only been to this restaurant once and it was on a Saturday night after 9:30, which means it was segueing into a nite club. It was very loud and there was virtually no lighting. I had to read the menu by holding it upside down over the bar and waiting for the intermittent lighting to turn back on. The bartenders were friendly and attentive, but the food was rather ho-hum and a bit pricey. I had heard that the sushi is first rate, but what I got was just average. I'll give this place another chance in the future, but definitely not on a Saturday night.

This place serves small portions of hibachi dinners but the entertainment of the chef makes up for it!!! Overall food was good... Sushi was awesome but the chefs don't know a word of English and Wont answer me when I ask them questions.... 3 stars it is!'

Went here last night for the first time since my initial review because my friend had never been and wanted to give it a try. For a weekday, it was pretty busy, but we still didn't have to wait for a table, which was nice (even if it was expected since it was a weekday). Ordered a bunch of sushi and it was all really good - fresh, nice presentation, good-sized servings. No complaints at all. And knowing what I did from my previous visit, I ordered a small bowl of rice on the side to have with the sashimi that we ordered. All in all, last night's visit rated an extra star over my first review.

Recently had a party of 13 for a 730 reservation. Our table was not ready until closer to 9. Was this acceptable...no. Did the open bar all night help....you betcha!

What a hidden gem! I stopped for lunch and very much enjoyed the hibachi chicken lunch dish. The decor was great, fun music, friendly staff. I'd go back in a heartbeat!

In comparison to other Asian/Japanese restaurants, they fall in between. I don't dislike Kon's, but I don't love it. If you're South of Providence there are fewer choices and Kon's is definitely a decent pick.

let's be honest. This place sucks, is pretty gross and remarkably rude. Drive another 10 minutes down Post Road and go to Seven Moons, seriously. Or just go next door to CVS and get a bag of Chex mix, you'll be glad you dodged that bullet.

I love coming here after work for a drink and some sushi! I love the atmosphere when I walk in thru the door. The music and the decor just set a nice relaxing mood. I frequent Kon and have never had a bad experience.

My friends rave about the sushi. i am not a sushi eater so i can not comment. My pros: good fried rice/general pso's/pad thai. Good people watching. I find the younger people who go in there riveting. . . .they dress as if it is 1980 and they are at studio 54. The Cons: very very dark (tough to read menu). . .there are not any rib selection. For those of us with the innocent palette of children once we have the chicken and rice our selections become limited. A BBQ spare rib would be a lovely addtion. Also the wait staff inconsistent and it is true they will not seat until everyone gets there and given there isn't a ton of space to wait you have to stand in front of the hostess station.

We frequent Kon for both their sushi and their hibachi. Probably the best place for both these things in the area. Despite being situated in the back of a strip mall, the location is very convenient and the restaurant itself has a great atmosphere. I've never had poor service or a bad meal at this restaurant. We've done Hibachi multiple times here with groups of people and the chefs are always interactive and fun, which is all part of the experience and what you expect. They offer happy hour appetizer specials at the bar during the week and usually have live music on the weekends, too.

My cousin took me here for lunch recently and I was in full SUSHI Mode! Lunches at Kon are very reasonable (I think their dinners are fairly pricey, but they seem to make their lunch prices a bit more affordable, so as to be sure they get more business during a time which might be a typically slower time of day). I had a lovely glass of Pinot Grigio to start. I also started the meal with Kon's Asian Lettuce Wraps (with chicken filling) and if you haven't tried this DElicious appetizer I suggest you give it a try as it is FABulous. I also ordered a luncheon special which was sushi, sashimi and choice of soup or salad. I ordered both soup AND salad because I was starving and the occasion was my birthday!! We left pretty happy and stuffed and everything was fresh and excellent. The service was great as well, and the lovely interior of Kon is a pleasant surprise (if you've not been there before) because it's just a plain old brick storefront in a CVS shopping center on the outside. I am raising my Yelp rating for Kon Asian Bistro To 5 stars!

  • Catherine P.

Nice ambiance and convenient location. The hibachi is pretty good, but overpriced. Lunch special is a good deal (best to go on weekdays) Sushi is lacking. I have gotten eel a few times with bones still in it, which made my mouth bleed. The tuna never looks fresh at all, in fact it is mushy and brown, which is somewhat concerning. People like going here to say they went to a cool, expensive Asian bistro, but it is actually overpriced, overrated, and unauthentic. It's a cool place to go for hibachi or drinks with friends, but if you are looking for quality Asian cuisine, go elsewhere.

This restaurant is dim but I do love the variety of food and decor in this restaurant. I have gotten sushi to go from this place and their sushi is delicious!! I recently came here for hibachi which was good! The service was very good and my mother who has poor eyesight needed brighter lights. The manager made the lights as bright as he could for us which was appreciated. Food and atmosphere are great here!

We frequent KON and will continue to do so. We've never once had a bad experience the manager/owner is from Bali and is ALWAYS pleasant, social and professional. All the wait staff are very attentive. The food is absolutely delicious! For appetizers we usually get edamame which is always hot and fresh with the perfect amount of sea salt. Another appetizer is the Crab Rangoon, I recommend getting an extra dish of the dipping sauce because it's delicious! For the main course my fiancé always gets steak and chicken hibachi always tasty. I love their specialty rolls my favorite is the "Tiger" with a side of spicy mayo. I also have a child and you never feel unwanted when the children are making noise. All parents will know what I mean by this! Most restaurants make you feel like a nuisance. A+++. Highly recommend.

Our waitress was a sweetheart. The pineapple jasmin rice with chicken was delicious and my husbands Japanese chicken teriyaki beef was banging! Inside was beautiful and had a date like scene, dim lights and was simply romantic. They bang the bong (or whatever it is) when it's your birthday! ;)

I hate to give a not-so-glowing review, but my recent experience at Kon left me wondering how I could have such good memories of a fabulous night at the same place years ago. I think the answer lies within the positive point that their hibachi staff are super entertaining and fun. They have high energy and that makes for a fun vibe. However, my recent lunch experience at Kon (not for hibachi as that's only offered at night), was very lacking. A couple highlights of the experience were that the waitress was very sweet and attentive. And the lunch menu looked awesome with a wealth of options. Also, the salad with peanut dressing was tasty! But, let me be specific about what was lacking. The California rolls were very chewy and flavorless. The soup was over spiced and had a too strong egg/oil flavor/texture. The pad thai was very oily, to the point where the person I was with felt ill after eating it (the nauseous, icky feeling you get after eating something much too oily). The crab dumpling was not flavorful or held together well. Overall, I was really quite surprised by the lacking quality in food. I expected more out of Kon, and I am hopeful it was just an off day for them. I wouldn't be opposed to trying them again in the future, but I won't be running back there. I guess the overall conclusion is that fond memories from a fun hibachi night years ago do not carry over to present day. It was OK.

Bottom line is we did not even have a waiter the whole night. We got our drinks (one each...I wanted another) and no water. Just apps and one drink. We had to call the manager over. He was very nice about it and gave us $25 gift card but we'll see net time. Maybe just the bar next time ......

Good service, sushi was "ok", not great, not horrible. In a great location, in terms of parking being available and if you want to hit a bar on or off of Main St. after dinner. Atmosphere is nice. Would go back.

Don't judge a book by its cover and do not judge Kon by its outside appearance. Although the location seems unassuming Kon is great as far ambiance and atmosphere. I really enjoy the style of the restaurant and its decor. I have had their sushi a few times and it is favorable and fresh, this being said it tends to be priced slightly higher than some of its competitors. When I have dined in at Kon the service has tended to be a bit slow and can be unorganized, but to be fair those occasions were with larger parties and balancing sushi and hibachi orders. Drinks are also very good, but come with a large price tag as well. Overall if you do get what you pay for in experience. The chefs are also entertaining and interactive if you are stopping in for a hibachi meal. I don't make it to the area as often as I would like but Kon is nice change of pace from my normal sushi stops.

Kon is my favorite restaurant in RI. I've been to many of the sushi joints in RI, and in my opinion they all pale in comparison. All of their offerings from drinks, appetizers, main dishes, sushi, and hibachi are all spot on. We've held our annual Christmas part their for years and have never been disappointed. Their courses are all fresh and very tasty. The sushi is always very fresh and well presented. The staff is also very nice, and friendly. Finally the atmosphere in this place is fantastic in my opinion. Don't judge this place on hibachi alone, you have to try everything. Outside of the sushi their basil beef, lettuce wraps, garlic pepper shrimp, etc are all awesome. The one thing I wouldn't do is order hibachi food while at a dining table. It's not the same in my opinion. Give it a try for lunch or happy hour you won't be disappointed (if you like this kind of food).

This was our Friday east Greenwich pick, were able to get seated and served our very excellent scorpion bowl quickly! The chic interior is well done , sort of upscale and fun, not pretentious. The bar area was full of 20 something's and it sounded like the people in the back were having fun at the hibachi tables. The hostesses was sweet and the server prompt and attentive. Sushi was good quality but the rice supporting it fell apart, not the correct consistency. I would try it again hoping the rice was simply off that night. The other chicken based entrees were cooked perfectly, rather impressive! All around great experience! A bit pricey.

I've been a fan of Kon since it opened several years ago in the CVS Plaza off Main Street in East Greenwich. The level of sophisticated interior design will surprise the uninitiated: a cavernous place with a big city feel. The L-shaped bar is perfect for flirting and the drinks are generous enough for enabling one to lose those inhibitions for doing so! And I might add, one of the few watering holes left that has beverages and appetizers alike featured as 'specials' during the happy hour. I can only fault the pint-size olives supplied for their outstanding martinis. I wish I could bring my own! Regardless, the generous serve makes up for the oversight. I love the staff. Both humorous and friendly, the men and women work to make you feel at home and not just another tip. The music is lively, mnemonic of the tracks played in clubs past but re-interpreted for a new generation. They also feature live music on weekends that draws a large crowd ( the patrons,BTW, are an interesting assortment of Pretty Young Things and Pretty Old Things, with everyone getting along, so please leave any 'attitude' for another place. There is a sense of the best of East Greenwich community here without drawing any comparisons to a clique. Never the same old faces. Well, maybe just mine :-) While a fan of Asian cuisine, critiquing it falls beyond my expertise. I just know what I like, and I like. I'm not overly adventurous in the food department although Kon has that on the menu for those who are. A nice gem of a place to see and be seen.

The good was great. The seating area was packed and laid out funny. I did not realize that a live band was going to be playing when we decided to go so it was difficult to hear what everyone was saying. As the band was ramping up so weren't the drunk people bumping into our table. I would say call and find out it live music is going on before you go if you don't want to have dinner in a nightclub

Meh, I've taken my kids here a few times when we were hungry and pressed for time. The sushi is ok, but I've had much better other places. My kids like the hibachi and it's ok. They have put on a ok show. I've ordered take out for my son and gotten three rolls for him. They feel justified charging me a dollar more for a sweet potato, and it does not seem right. we will not be running back, there are much better places to go to.

When it comes to Hibachi, Kon is on my list of favorites, that's for sure. It's a little surprising to read some of the reviews from people, but I see that a lot of them are for the table-service side of the restaurant, and I cannot speak to that. But as far as the hibachi side goes, it is worth a visit, that's for sure. I've been several times with groups of friends and we always have a great time. The cooks are fun and keep everyone involved. They have always cooked our meals in a timely manner, and it's quite delicious. The hibachi is on the more expensive side, but well worth it. I find myself ordering the filet each time and sometimes combining it with another dish. The sauces they use to cook the meats in is the best of any hibachi I've been to in the area. Their crab rangoons are also delicious, and have quickly risen in my ranks. They are full of flavor and have been crispy and hot each and every time. I have since moved to Massachusetts, but if and when I find myself in the area for dinner, I will be stopping by as soon as I can.

The service at Kon's is so bad, it was comical. My wife's main course came before our appetizers, in fact she finished her meal before we received the appetizers. My sushi meal came 20 minutes after she had finished. I have been eating sushi for over a decade, and this is the first place I have been where the rice just fell apart. I had to tell the waitress I never got my Miso soup, which I got to eat after my Sushi. The only saving grace was my wife ordered a Scorpion bowl for two. The drink took awhile for us to finish, I laughingly told my wife that we should order desert since it should buy us a good 30 minutes... I was right! lol Kon's is the worst service I have ever experienced at any restaurant, besides a biker bar I went to in Mexico where I was stabbed. They have absolutely no idea what they are doing.

We drove thirty minutes to this place for hibachi on recommendation from a friend. We looked for it after we'd "arrived at our destination" from our navigation only to be completely confused as to where the place was. There was no lighting for the sign of which barely even says Kon. We drove right by the place 4 times! It's in a strip mall with absolutely no lighting, on the end behind another building and has an unlit sign. We called them an asked exactly where they were located after driving around for 20 minutes. Don't you know it was five minutes to nine when we finally found their hole in the wall? They refused to serve us at the hibachi because it closed at 9pm. This would have been a excellent thing to tell me when I called earlier in the evening asking about reservations for the hibachi. I'm sorry, if your hibachi is open until 9 your seat any guests that come in before 9, even if it's only 5 minutes before. Never mind that your place has a crap location, a broken sign and we called and told you we had been drive for 20 minutes looking for your place. So annoying. If not serving us the hibachi wasn't bad enough the place is honestly like a night club, it's beyond dark and the music is loud. So dark you can barely see what you are eating. They have a bar but their last call is a 9:45 and they close at 10pm. Our waitress was efficient. The food on the other hand was just OK, if that. We ordered the ginger duck, dried crispy schezwan beef (who calls their beef dried?), Indian pancake, tempura calamari and a shrimp dish. The star of all of it was the dried crispy beef, who would have thought? The shrimp dish literally had four pieces of shrimp and for the expensive price of the dishes the portions were too small and just lacking overall. I can't say that I recommend Kon to anyone. I'd advise you to go elsewhere for Asian food of any kind.

Tonight, we had dinner at Kon and the experience was just OK... The waitress was a mess... She did not know what the Special Soup of the day was...which was written on the board as you walk in.. I asked for 3 sashimi pieces, she got me nigiri instead She told my BF that his dish could be served with brown or white rice...he asked for brown and was served white. The food overall was also just ok...my sushi did not taste as fresh as other times.....It was an average to bad experience.. They've got to train their help better so customers can enjoy a better meal.

Great atmosphere and décor. Friendly service every time. The sushi is always fresh and the hibachi grill is always an entertaining experience. Another great option is to go for happy hour which is Monday through Friday until 6pm where they offer a good variety of rolls for almost half price.

Kon has changed from a sushi goto staple for us, to more of a nightlife weekend spot. Great drinks, comfortable bar and wonderful food. The management always attentive, staff is very friendly.

I can't comment on the decor as the place was very dark. I mean, I had trouble reading the menu dark. The food was absolutely amazing. I had a sample of the sushi and the chilean sea bass which were amazingly flavorful. Even though it was a bit pricey, I was very happy. My husband was not quite as thrilled as he has a bigger appetite, that was why I only rated 4 stars. I will return for lunch and update my review after I am able to dine in the daylight. I hear the decor is pretty impressive.

Been here a bunch of times. Food is always good, service as well. The BEST thing about Kon is their lunch special! $13.30 for three rolls, soup and salad! Can't be touched! So if the noon hunger pains hit ya, head to Kon for a great, bargain lunch

One word reflects my party's experience with Kon's hibachi last night: UNDERSTAFFED. Despite having a reservation, it took 45 minutes to be able to even sit down at a hibachi table. We had a very large group, so it was understandable. However, we were hoping it would be uphill from there. Unfortunately, we were extremely disappointed. The hibachi wait staff was floating amongst the eight 8-person hibachi tables - THIS IS NOT AN EFFECTIVE WAY TO SERVE GUESTS. One person's drink took over half an hour to come (only after two reminders after the rest of the table had theirs). The check-ins by the wait staff were so few and far between it was almost impossible to order sushi or more drinks without having to seem like a rude jerk (since one would have to get their attention instead of being asked like is customary at most nice restaurants). As we sat at the table for over 45 minutes waiting for the show to start, it became clear why it had taken so long to seat us... only 2 of the 8 tables ever had chefs at them at one time. So 75% of the guests in the hibachi area were sitting and waiting. I have never, ever seen such a high table-to-chef ratio... 4 to 1? That is completely unacceptable. The chefs looked visibly exhausted... they were missing their egg tosses left and right, also fumbling while trying to do the other tricks. Multiple people in my party voiced sympathy for them. Their food was good... unfortunately, they were just about the only efficient part of the entire operation. Ah, the bill. We had a large party, so of course the logistics were going to get a bit crazy. Apparently no one had mentioned to split the checks - fine, we split up the monetary amounts ourselves and wrote the corresponding card numbers and cash. That was our fault. BUT WAIT - they had forgotten to put in the automatic 18% gratuity (which they realized after we had done all the figuring on the first receipt).......... so after 10 minutes of waiting for the check to be picked up after we were done with it the first time, we had to go through the same thing again with a NEW receipt. The entire process of paying took almost an hour. A small party was actually seated at the open portion of one of our two tables and their show was almost finished by the time we got to leave. No apology from the manager, nothing. Only one girl on the wait staff, Stephanie, seemed to be apologetic through our entire experience. Time in: 7:45 PM ... time out: 10:50 PM (OVER 3 HOURS - 45+ minutes in the lobby, 45+ minutes waiting at the table, 30ish minutes of show, almost an hour to pay)... the food is good, the service is terrible - I advise NOT trying the hibachi on a weekend night, especially with a large party. It basically ruined our birthday girl's birthday experience.

I have eaten here many times and have never been disappointed with the food. Some of my favorites appetizers are the Crab Rangoon's (plenty of filling,) Vietnamese Summer Rolls (like Nime Chow,) Edamame and the Satay Chicken. For entrees I would have to recommend the General Tso's Chicken or the Szechuan Crispy Dried Shredded Beef. Both plates are served with Jasmine Rice. The General Tso's chicken consists of nice chunks of white meat, cooked perfectly and covered in the General's sauce. They also throw in a couple pieces of broccoli on the plate that separate the rice and the chicken. The Shredded Beef is to die for - I just don't know how to put into words how tasty this plate is. I have not had a chance to enjoy the Hibachi and unfortunately, am not a Sushi person. Based on what I have heard from friends, it is all good though. They have plenty of mixed drinks to choose from. The Scorpion Bowl is very good, but get ready to put down $20 for one. Like other reviews have said, this restaurant is located in a strip mall but you will not be disappointed once inside. The place is gorgeous. My only complaint has to be the service on some nights. Unfortunately it seems whenever I get stuck in one of the booths near the front of the restaurant, I never see my waitress. If you have never been here, I highly recommend checking it out.

I'll start by saying the food saved the experience it was really good. But the service was awful our waitress not once check how the food was, plus I had to ask for more water. I asked what kind of salmon they have here she goes and checks and comes back and says Alaskan like really come on how do they not know their fish here, was a bit disappointed. I do recommend the food but do not expect good service.

I simply love this place. It is about 25 mins drive from my place but totally worth it. Sweetheart roll, Veg spring roll and gyoza are my go to appetizers . I never miss their dessert Tiramisu at the end of the dinner. Everything is so good here. I will never get enough of this place.

Love love love Kon. Delicious hibachi and sushi. Wait staff is attentive and entertaining - especially for hibachi. They definitely make your experience a really fun one in addition to serving great food. The atmosphere is also really nice - beautiful, vibrant colors and Asian inspired decor really enhance the dining experience. I've been here many times, and will continue to go back. I especially love bringing large groups here for hibachi.

Now this is the Kon I remember. After a couple of so-so visits, I stayed away from Kon for a bit. I thought it was overpriced and average. Last night's trip was everything I remember from when Kon opened. The food was spectacular, as were the drinks. We split a variety of rolls (Sweet Heart, Dynamite, Philly, Sweet Potato and Peanut Avocado) and apps. The sushi was delicious! I couldn't pick a favorite between the veggies and seafood. They were all that good! Only thing that needs improvement was the service. Our waitress disappeared for long periods of time. We had to go find her on several occasions (drinks, refills, check). We ran out of soy sauce but were unable to locate her. The restaurant was empty. It just seemed like she had better things to do than pay attention to her one table (that spent a good amount of money!!!).

Overpriced for the meager portions they serve. Seems to have really gone down hill lately, as most Asian restaurants seem to after a while. They're really good at first, get a bit comfortable and cocky and the whole dining experience suffers. We live within walking distance and will not be returning.

I love Kon! This is place has very nice decor and the food to match. I have not had one thing bad from here and I have been several times. The sushi is great, I have tried a bunch of rolls and everything is always awesome, I like the pink lady and the RI roll (I think that's what it's called). App and gen chicken was good when I went once, since then, it has been strictly the sushi! Great place for a date, love the atmosphere and it being on main street, you are close to a bunch of bars afterwards!

You have no idea what you're walking into if you've never been here before. By the street side of the restaurant, you have no idea what it's going to be like inside. It's totally like the South Beach or LA club scene when you walk in. Definitely the vibe they're going for in here, but East Greenwich isn't exactly a fist-pumping-clubbing type of town. Other than that, the food is pretty good.

I have only been here once, but I really enjoyed it. The decor is amazing and you would not expect it from the outside. I got crab rangoons (and I am a crab rangoon fanatic). These ones were DELECTABLE. I also tried the Spicy Tuna Roll and that was awesome. We ordered a scorpian bowl and it was SUPER strong. I was very drunk off one hahah. I will be back here!

Imagine P.F. Chang's in a strip mall. Go ahead... I'll wait. Based on the exterior I thought we were going to some hole-in-the-wall place for sushi. Upon entering the place I felt like I walked into a Hollywood night club without any blow. The place was dark and the music was looooud. We were seated quickly, which was nice. My spicy tuna roll was good. The mango poopy loopy shrimp or whatever the eff I got was eh. There was way more mango than shrimp, which blows because it wasn't the cheapest thing on the menu. (that's subtle talk for fuckin' expensive shrimp.) My fiance ordered the ginger duck thingy and wasn't too impressed. It took awhile to get the check, which left us picking our teeth to a Katy Perry remix. This review makes me sound like an old person. :(

I like to review as much as I can, we eat out a lot . About 2-3 times a week. We always go to shoguns when we have hibachi. My friend and his wife said lets go to Kon on January 11,2014 so me an my wife have never been and wanted to try it. We agreed to give it a try. When I say regret it, that's a understatement!! It came to $98.85, we each got one Plate per couple and split it. which we do Everytime at shoguns and ALWAYS have more then enough food, so much we have leftovers. The place was completely dead. Granted it was 7pm the Patriots playoff game started at 8pm. So I know where everyone was :)! Let's start with the atmosphere. Very slow inside, a lot of the water that is usually on was off my friend pointed out. Saying this Buddha does this or this koi pond Is Usually full and flows this way. None of them where on. Saving money?? We where sat at a table with just us 4. We ordered the chicken and filet to split and out Friends ordered steak and shrimp to split. So the guy comes over, first of all he try's to spray saki into my wife's mouth who is 9months pregnant, I literally had to throw my hand up to catch it and was like what are you nuts she's pregnant. He didn't seem to understand, the show was very small and boring. When he split the food, which we paid for will get into that in a minute. He put it on ONE plate and had us split it between each other. They charged us $10 each to split without every telling us they change to split and we got NO WHERE near the right amount of food. We where done by the time he turned off grill. Gave us RAW chicken again to a pregnant women I chewed and it was like its Raw. He had us throw it back on grill ( totally disgusting). When we got the bill I said to my friend they charge to split, he said NO. Then we asked waitress. Ah said yea we just started that! Like hello that would be something you inform your guest about BEFORE hand!! Total fail in my eyes. Let's list why. Pros- nice place, nice area Cons- raw chicken , saki tossed at a pregnant women, small dishes, charge for splitting without telling you, charge for splitting and make customer split own plate , half the place wasn't running, we mentioned my friends birthday and got no dessert. The portion size was a Huge disappointment! Then it's like go ahead an split that yourself. Like I said I have only been to shoguns and can only compare to there or the one we went to in Cancun. Shoguns is a 9/10 compared to the dinner we had here and we paid $98.85 + tip for 2 plates no alcohol. Got raw chicken, bad service. Also the waitress said cooks won't even run a dinner if they don't put the plate split on the receipt. We felt totally ripped off and had to go Burger King after we left which when I have ever left shotguns I have left with Lbs of food. So unimpressed with the whole start to finish.

I used to think Kon was the best of the best, but this place has gone downhill in recent months. I'm saddened I even have to write this, but I must for my fellow Yelpers. We had a reservation last night for 6 people, which for some reason was a perplexedly difficult number for the hostess to comprehend: (When there were 2 of us waiting) Hostess: "So, how many people in your party" Us: "6 people" Hostess: "How many more are you waiting on?" Us: "...4" (2 friends arrive) Hostess: "So how many more are we waiting for on your party of 6?" Us: "Um....2." And so it begins.. When we were seated, we were not acknowledged by any sort of wait staff for nearly 10 minutes. When they did come over and ask what we'd like to drink, we had to inform the waitress we were never actually given a drink menu. We had what I can only imagine is the most unhappy hibachi chef ever to grace the grill. Apathetic doesn't begin to describe it. Now for most restaurants I couldn't care less about the demeanor of the cooks, however at hibachi the chef is part of the show. No tricks, no jokes...just cooked and sneezed all over the food (I wish I were kidding here). By this point, I was experiencing a mix of disappointment and disgust, so I figured if nothing else maybe another Sake Cosmo could help...but oh wait, our waitress is nowhere to be seen. At all. The only time we saw her from this point on was for our check. Lucky for her the gratuity was included for our party of 6, otherwise I would have been less generous that the 18% that was automatically included (for the record I'm a serial over tipper). Kon, what happened to you?

The food is always delicious but with that being said - service is the worst. Staff has no personality, apps came out staggered not all at the same time- waiter could care less that we were there and waited almost 15 for drinks. I will not pay for terrible service ever- been in food industry 30 years. What a shame. Do not have Roc wait on you!

I've only been to Kon once and it was an okay experience, nothing over the top. I really dug the decor and ambiance. The space is very open and decorated with a dark, asian, modern influence. I ordered a few sushi rolls; my most favorite was the Spider roll: soft shell crab, cucumber, avacado, smelt roe and a most delicious sweet dipping sauce. Thinking about it right now is making my mouth water. The service was horrible. We were seated promptly, but then had to wait 10 minutes for a menu, 10 minutes for our drinks, 10 minutes to order, we were never checked on to see how the food was and then had to wait another 20 minutes for the check. I'd like to go back and try more items from their menu, then perhaps my rating will change, however; I'm not rushing back there anytime soon.

Love Kon in East G! I am a frequent visitor with my co-workers after work...a weekly favorite! They have a great happy hour menu available with great deals on my favorite sushi. Place has a great vibe and is always busy. The hibachi room is great for dinner with friends and the chefs make it even more enjoyable. My favorites include the vietnamese summer rolls for starters, the sweetheart roll for sushi and the Szechuan Crispy Dried Shredded Beef for an entree! Be sure to try the pineapple fried rice for a nice twist to the norm!

This place is a gem. It is kind of hidden in a strip mall in East Greenwich. From the outside you wouldn't even know that it was as nice or HUGE inside as it is. They offer both sushi and hibachi and both are pretty good. They have good lunch specials and I recommend getting that if you are there for lunch. The service is really good. They don't leave discarded items on your table for more than a minute.

Kon is located in an unassuming strip mall on Main Street in East Greenwich. But once you walk in, you feel like you are transported to a restaurant that you would find in Vegas or NYC. The ceiling was high, decor was larger than life, such as a giant Buddha statue with a squarish water feature that has a water fountain, flanked by intimate two-person tables. Dropping from the ceiling were lighting features that look like circular cloth lanterns that range from 2-4 feet in length and bunched up at the end like a tootsie roll end. It emanated a soft yellow light that was perfectly diffused by the circular cloth. Surrounding the restaurant was bigger tables for larger parties and in the back of the restaurant were about four Hibachi grills that was separated by a wall (maybe to separate the noise from the hibachi area?). The music was funky, from a mix of techno and Indian dance. The sushi that we ordered was amazingly fresh. I had the Sushi and Sashimi for one which was a total of 13 pcs, consisting of 5 pcs sushi, 8 pcs sashimi and a crunchy salmon roll. It was all very delicious. The 5 pcs of sushi consisted of two different fish, three were salmon but the other two were a light colored fleshy fish was a mystery to me. Interestingly, I brought it to my nose to smell it to see if I can distinguish the type of fish, but could not detect even a hint of fishiness. So it remains a mystery. That is how fresh it is! My date ordered a spicy crunchy salmon roll and an eel avocado roll. The eel avocado roll, according to her was "melt in your mouth avocado goodness". I personally tasted each too and I whole-heartily agree. Service was excellent, drink menu was robust with house mix drinks. I did not order a drink, but will try one of their house mix drinks when I come back. Since I love going to Vegas and enjoying the larger than life experience of restaurants, I therefore love going to Kon now right here in Lil' Rhody!

Well, I come here because of reviews. .. Come on, really? Its just regular Asian food, you can easily found everywhere eating area at the mall. Duck: only skin and ginger flavor, rice......how you can f... the rice? Salmon: blawwww Service: just below average. Decor: very nice.

Some of the best sushi around, in my opinion. Nice atmosphere, great for a date with your someone special or a night out with the girls. The hibachi dinners have very generous portions and are delicious (I usually get the salmon - delicious!).

I was really looking forward to trying Kon's after hearing good reviews from friends. We were impressed right off the bat after walking through the front door. It's very deceiving from the outside. We weren't expecting such Vegas-like decor. Grade: A+ We decided to try the hibachi. As we sat, we were equally impressed. The dining area was clean, comfortable and the waitress immediately welcomed us and took our drink order. The mixed drink was excellent, nice and strong, the way it should be. Grade: A The meals we ordered came with the standard salad and soup to start. Both were OK, but the portions were very small and cheap. The ginger dressing was watered down and the 1 slice of cucumber and mushroom were sliced so thin, you could see through it. That is just poor, guys, c'mon. Grade: D The chefs were very entertaining and above average compared to other nearby Japanese hibachi restaurants. Everybody got a shot of Sake from a squeeze bottle (and subsequent wet shirt). The vegetables, fried rice, shrimp, and steak were all cooked perfectly. We were a little disappointed with the sauces. They seemed watery and the brown sauce was sweet instead of the usual horseradish bite. In my opinion, sweetness just doesn't match well with filet mignon. The reason I only gave 2 stars was because the chicken was ....horrendous. We're not sure what the chef did to it, but I took 1 bite and immediately spit it out. I am NOT a picky eater and NEVER spit anything out, especially in a restaurant, but this was an exception. My wife, who ordered the same dish, did the same. Thinking I just got a bad piece, I tried 2 other pieces, but I could not bear to eat any of them. Most pieces had a big band of cartilage around it or through it. The other pieces were like chewing on rubber. My wife thinks the chef overcooked it or they had bad cuts of chicken. Food grade: C- Anyways, since this was our first time at Kon's, and most everything else was good, we'll give them the benefit of the doubt and give them a 2nd chance, but we WILL stay away from the chicken (and probably the hibachi altogether). We're hoping the chicken thing was a fluke.

Excellent food. A wonderful selection. A ridiculous lunch special. How can you go wrong? Seriously. For $10.30 (including the tax) I had General Tso's Chicken, served with Miso Soup, six small California Roll pieces, two small dumplings, a small salad and white rice (see photo). Dinners are great and the food is always fresh. This is definitely one of East Greenwich's gems.

Was at restaurant a few weeks ago on Saturday night. Very busy, but service and food were excellent. Was a little noisey when we walked in, asked for quiet table, they prepared an excellent table with a quiet location. Though restaurant was full, service and timing of food were excellent. Asked for a martini recommendation and enjoyed a sake pomegrante martini. Food tasted fresh, alot better than the usual Oriental restaurant.

I've been to Kon on several occasions but our recent experience left much to be desired. Service was good as usual, but the food was just ok. We had a sweetheart roll to start which was as good as we remembered. I ordered a Mongolian beef and it was slimy and tasteless. I think "Panda Express" would have delivered better food, ick. My husband ordered noodles which he enjoyed after requesting teriyaki sauce to give it some flavor. Bottom line way too expensive for food-court quality.

Having only tried sushi that are less than mentionable, I was very unsure to try again. Other places I have been the sushi didn't seem fresh but for the first time I LOVED it. We go in on a Friday night (group of 4) and there is a 15 minute wait. Not bad when there is a nice bar feet away. Everyone saddles themselves with a beer and the next thing we know a table is ready. We started off getting a Scorpion Bowl at my request and man was it strong! I'm a lightweight so I bit my tongue but when everyone else agrees, we even had to get a side of pineapple juice to water it down. Mind you this is NOT a complaint as most places you swear you're getting fruit punch with a splash of alcohol. I've never had a one like this and was pleased. (It was enough to get 4 people tipsy off of it easily). I ordered myself Tom Yam soup to start and it was perfectly spicy, came out pipin' hot and the portion was more than I could even eat! We also had Sweetheart Rolls which were to die for! I could have eaten the entire dish all by myself. The others I'm not sure, but one was a salmon roll which was really flavorful and the other had cooked eel on top which was also very tasty! The only thing I wasn't head over heels over was the General Tso Chicken. It was very good, but nothing to write home about. That being said, it was still good enough to order a second time. I give this place 5 stars for the timing of the food, portions, freshness, atmosphere and price. Four of us ate here with a tab of 118 (4 different types of sushi, general tso chicken, pad tai, scorpion bowl and soup)

Mixed feelings about this place. The first time I went here, there was a hair in my non-sushi appetizer. I saw it before I put it in my mouth, fortunately, and when I told the waitress, the manager came out, apologized for the hair and then offered a replacement. When the check came, the manager had charged for the hairy appetizer, and when I sent the check back to get fixed, he took the hairy appetizer off and then charged for the replacement appetizer......UH, ok?! The waitress I could see was embarrassed about the manager's attitude and took it off the check at the end of the day, but, seriously, manager guy? That's just really great customer service, don't you think? On the other hand, the sushi is actually above average for RI sushi, and I've been back to the restaurant since then with no incident. I'm still waiting on a first quality sushi place in RI though, there just isn't one and I love my sushi.

This place is so cool. From the giant Buddha statue (which is plastic - I had to knock on it) to the koi pond in the middle of the restaurant, it is a feast for the eyes. But the feast doesn't end there! The food is always delish. Whenever we go, I get sushi and my fiancé gets Chinese food. We usually try something new, and we are never let down. We obviously always pair our entrees with a scorpion bowl for two, which arrives with a flame in the center and is always tasty. I can't tell you how sad I get when I get a scorpion bowl with no flame.. Although Kon Asian Bistro is a little pricier than those smaller sushi places in RI, it is well worth it. The food is authentic and you can view the sushi being made from most of the spots in the dining room. Kon also offers a hibachi dining room, which we have yet to experience. It's separated by a pretty awesome waterfall wall, and you can often hear a giant gong coming from the other side. How mysterious.. If you find yourself in need of a restaurant to take a first date, or even a millionth date, I guarantee you'll both have a great time at Kon Asian Bistro.

This is a fun atmosphere with a great menu, so it has something for everyone really like 2 restaurants in one. The hibachi is great for kids, the bar (depending on time of day) can be very relaxing, and the main part of the restaurant can be romantic. I'm not a big crowd person so I suggest a midweek visit. Friday/Saturday nights are always packed.

The menu is pricey but the staff is fantastic! I ordered a spicy salmon roll with my meal and they forgot to make it and the owner personally delivered it to me when he over heard me tell the waitress. (no extra charge) The food is great.

I like to first start by saying that this was my first time here and it was a little tough to find with the sign not being well lit. When I walked in I liked the Hollywood club atmosphere with music and darker lighting. With that said me and my family got the hibachi for my uncles birthday our waitress was pleasant and attentive and our hibachi chef was the best part of it all def put on a great show was so interactive with us and loved squirting Saki down our throats lol (maybe a Lil to much ) lol the food was good not great but I don't expect much from hibachi chicken and steak tasted same as every one I been too. The one big issue is my aunts mother fell down on way to the bathroom cause of grease on the floor and the most they did was apologize not credit anything off bill or any offer and she fell pretty bad and probably could of touched on lawsuit if she was that type , but overall and other than that it was a fun experience

I only went here once and split some appetizers with my cousin. Got some crab rangoons which were delicious and the Japanese style calamari. The calamari was WICKED good though. They grill it up really quick and serve it with a great dipping sauce that is kind of like dumpling sauce. The best part about this dish though is that it is a whole squid with the tentacles. A bit pricey for my taste but worth it.

I am going to go against the grain and say this place is just OK. Walking into the restaurant, situated in a little strip mall, you will be totally shocked by the swanky decor. The giant Buddha statue next to the pond was very neat. We had a reservation and were seated almost immediately at a nice hibachi table in the "hibachi room". The wait staff came over right away and took care of our drink orders. Our hibachi chef was fun! Very interactive! A little overbearing, I wanted to shout "PLEASE STOP THROWING FOOD AT ME, CLEARLY I CANNOT CATCH IT!" The food was good, but parts were a little crunchy from being left on the griddle for too long. There was nothing that bad about Kon, but there are other places close by that leave Kon in the dust.

Every plate and glass I got was dirty. My eel tasted off and my the lemongrass in my aunt's Lemongrass Chicken was inadequately cooked (it stabbed your throat on the way down). In addition, they tagged on a service charge without telling us and it was printed oddly on the menu, which didn't feel entirely honest.

We brought six people to dinner on Valentine's weekend, which was not a smart choice. They were SLAMMED. Wait out the door slammed. Our waitress wasn't great, but I can forgive that given the circumstances. We were seated in a booth by the door, and that was the trouble. It was FREEZING. Wear your coat and scarf through dinner freezing. Enjoy eating sushi while wearing a winter coat freezing. Plus, as people arrived, they have no where to wait so they simple line up and pile in, directly next to the table. Suddenly, our intimate dinner out is interrupted by young girls in club attire, shivering in their coats and yelling because...it's still freezing. The food was good, but if you go, request a table in the back.

One of my favorites. Hibachi, enough said. Entertaining, huge portions, excellent selection, beautiful decor, delicious sushi and attentive staff. I have been to Kon numberous times and they have not let me down once. Although I do find it awkward to be the only two seated at a hibachi table, I still have the greatest experience here every time. If you love Hibachi, you will love Kon!

I can only comment on the sushi, but the hibachi tables look fun. Decor of the place is nice, dark, very club-like. Sushi is super fresh and really good, but not the best I've ever had. Their special rolls are very good, and their normal spicy tuna/salmon rolls always taste fresh. Honestly, the reason I'm giving them 3 stars is because of their price - I've definitely gotten the same quality of sushi for less. This can be the place to go if you're looking for high quality sushi and you don't mind the pricey-ness.

AMAZING decor. SO beautiful in here. The atmosphere in here can be whatever you want it to be! The dining area is lowly lit, and you could enjoy a nice dinner off their menu here, the bar is beautiful, and their hibachi seating area is the perfect place to have a great time. Last time I went I had hibachi, and the service and food was perfect! Everything tasted so good and it was such a good time. I was really impressed with Kon and I will be returning!

I really love kon and I still do. Their lunch special is super cheap and you get so much food. I really love coming here for my lunch break with my girlfriends.

Beautifully decorated, very romantic and food is AWESOME!!! Some of the best sushi I have ever had! We did hibachi too, which my daughter was totally enthralled by. Overall the place is fantastic and we plan on making many trips back there!

When my best friend from high school informed me that for our annual reunion we would be celebrating at the Japanese restaurant next to the strip-mall CVS she works at, I was skeptical. It ended up being some of the best sushi I have had. I ordered a California roll and a Rainbow roll, and they were so delicious, we ordered a second round! The waitress was excellent-she could really sense we were wrapped up in reunion conversation and manged to be friendly and efficient without ever interupting. My friend told me they clear out the tables at night and have Asian house music but that did not seem to happen and it seemed to dull down after the dinner crowd left The real thing that stands out about the Kon is the decor. Over the top, yet striking. The woodworking was beautiful and who doesn't love a giant Buddha surrounded by water? It may be in a strip-mall, but the ambience competed with anything I have seen in Boston and New York.

I've only been here for hibachi and had always gotten the chicken (because I'm a cheapo =[ and don't want to dish out too much money since I'm a poor college student... haha) and even though I like their fried rice that they make, every single time I've gotten the chicken, the meat wasn't so great... I'm going back tonight because my friend is obsessed with this place and I might just get the veggie hibachi just so I can avoid the chicken (beef is too much of a high roller for me haha). Besides my dissatisfaction with the chicken, it's overall pretty good. Plus, the waitresses/hosts are allll so beautiful. Makes me sooo envious... lol. The hibachi chefs can get a little annoying though, it's like they HAVE to throw food in your face or else the boss man won't pay them.... I try to avoid it but why am I always the one to have food hit my face? =[ I can't catch with my mouth Silly question (are reviews respondable?), but am I allowed to get menu food if I sit at the hibachi grill or am I limited to hibachi dinners? lol. I don't want evil stares from the beautiful waitresses aimed at me! haha

I went here for a friend's birthday night out. I had hibachi shrimp and scallop, the food was decent, it's hibachi... soy sauce, butter and lemon, I can't really judge. So I suppose I'm judging on service and presentation more here. The decor is excellent, you can tell how much you'd be shelling out by looking at the decor lol. The service was kind of lacking, considering there was only 2 tables in the hibachi section, water was refilled once in a blue moon because no one was around. We waited and waited for the hibachi since the hibachi chef was working on the other table with a party of 2. We had a party of 10 and no love.

Had to update because my fiance actually proposed to me here. :) Over the years we have come to *love* Kon. Service is always top knotch, the food is always fantastic, great ambiance. Moving it up from 4 stars to 5. It's a local favorite of ours. Try the seafood ceviche appetizer- it's amazing! :)

It was around 3:30 and i had a sushi craving. Seven moons wasnt open, don't know why, but I was furious with anger. So, I thought I'd stop by Kon and give it a shot. It posseses an awesome atmosphere that's truly one of a kind. I felt one with my spider roll and at peace with my heineken. Will be returning once again for more Kon!
